WEST COVINA, Calif.—Coordinating with health care professionals at Emanate Health, North-West College (NWC) recently donated hundreds of much-needed masks and gloves designated for doctors and nurses caring for coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in the San Gabriel Valley. The personal protective equipment (PPE) will be distributed as needed among Emanate Health’s facilities, which include Queen of the Valley Hospital, Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, and Intercommunity Hospital.
“We recognize the extreme PPE shortages our local hospitals and health care facilities are facing as they navigate this crisis,” explained NWC Vice President Lisa Fuerst. “We are grateful to be able to offer our support to these heroes and do our part to help them limit their exposure to the coronavirus.
In addition to 500 gloves and surgical masks, 800 procedural masks, and 1,000 ear loop masks, North-West College also donated more than 900 N95 masks. Currently in short supply, N95s are rated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as highly effective in protecting individuals against COVID-19, along with other viral strains.
“Proper facial protection is crucial to keeping our doctors and nurses safe,” Fuerst shared. “Our goal is to continue to look for ways to support our health care professionals as they work tirelessly to support and heal our communities in these unprecedented times.”
