Sunday, October 30 marked North-West College’s Fall Commencement Ceremony. Held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, the event offered family and friends, along with College Team Members, the opportunity to congratulate 422 graduates as they celebrated the culmination of their career training.
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) awarded initial accreditation to North-West College’s (NWC) Santa Ana Surgical Technologist Program. Set for a period of five years, the accreditation is a testament to the program’s strict compliance with CAAHEP’s rigorous standards.
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) awarded initial programmatic accreditation to North-West College’s Surgical Technology program at its Long Beach campus at its May 2016 meeting. The five-year accreditation followed a rigorous review process, including a self-study and two-day inspection of the Long Beach Surgical Tech program.
North-West College (NWC) and Glendale Career College (GCC) will observe National Nurses Week, marking the occasion by recognizing nurses serving the surrounding communities. As a way of expressing appreciation for the vital role nurses play on the front lines of the health care field, Massage Therapy students from North-West College’s West Covina, Pasadena, and Pomona campuses will provide free massages to nurses working in local hospitals and clinics throughout the week.
On April 4 and 5, the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) evaluated North-West College’s Surgical Technologist program at its Santa Ana campus. Working in collaboration with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the council subjected the program to a rigorous, two-day inspection as part of its initial accreditation process.
WEST COVINA, Calif.—North-West College (NWC) recently purchased two new 4D ultrasound machines for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) Program students at its Long Beach and Santa Ana campuses. Designed to capture 3D images in movement, the machines open up a wealth of opportunities for individuals training to become ultrasound technicians through the College’s program.
On March 28, North-West College (NWC) will begin a $150,000 renovation of Barton Hall, located on the College’s West Covina campus. Home to the Eyecare Specialist and Massage Therapist program laboratories and classrooms, Barton Hall serves hundreds of students each year. The remodel involves creating better defined spaces for each program, including Eyecare Specialist training stations, where students can simulate measuring patients for eyeglasses along with other relevant skills.
In 1966, North-West College opened its doors in West Covina, California with two classes and just 43 students. In fact, those first students began learning in a construction trailer because the West Covina campus was not yet built. But College Founder Marsha Fuerst had a vision to help underprivileged individuals find a brighter future through quality career training. Today, 50 years later, that vision remains as strong and steadfast as ever.
North-West College honored Citrus Valley Health Partners (CVHP) with its 2015 Distinguished Clinical Partner Award at the college’s annual holiday luncheon and award ceremony on Friday, December 11th.
